Hong Bao (红包)
It is custom in Char's culture to give monetary gifts, typically in the form of a red envelope. If you would prefer to give a monetary gift, we have set up cash funds in our registry. Additionally, a wedding card box will be at our reception.
Red envelopes, also known as Hong Bao, are customary in Chinese culture for holidays and special occasions. At weddings, the red envelopes are typically filled with cash and gifted to the bride and groom as a symbol of good luck and fortune. While the monetary gift does not have to be a large one, presenting the bride and groom with a red envelope is a traditional way to wish good luck, fortune, and prosperity onto the newlyweds.
